Beat the Time: The Dance (Part Three)

“Nobody cares if you can't dance well.
Just get up and dance.
Great dancers are great because of their passion.”

(Martha Graham)

The right way to end my tribute to dance is to show my portraits of some of the dancers.

If the faces are languages without alphabets, as I often write citing the Iraqi poet Amal Al-Jaburi, then the portraits of those who dance are even closer to this definition, because even the bodies of the dance speak without using alphabets, if not those of the choreography and passion.

In dance we read without understanding, pure emotion that dominates the intellect.  Each face has its own beauty, in this case also enriched by traditional clothes and makeup. They are compendiums of culture.

In many cases there are existences devoted to art and dance. They are bodies that become open doors to the cultural tradition of their country. This is why I wanted to conclude with their portraits.

Have a good trip.

  1. Good photo of the dancer not only about on how good you use the camera...
    BUT
Familiarise yourself with the dance style...You need to get to know the dancer...Make sure your models know they're being photographed.
