International Poetry Festival

On the occasion of the Festival “Puisi Antarabangsa” (International Poetry) organized in Malaysia from 19 to 22 April, I composed this poem to represent Italy, on the theme of the Festival: books and reading.

In occasione del Festival “Puisi Antarabangsa” (Poesia Internazionale) organizzato in Malesia dal 19 al 22 Aprile, ho composto questa poesia a rappresentare l'Italia, sul tema del Festival: i libri e la lettura.

 

Il Bosco Incantato

Come un sogno camminare
nella Biblioteca di Babele
tra ali di tomi impolverati
che si aprono come al vento le vele.

Fin da adolescente
ho subito il fascino della lettura
e avido ho divorato parole,
perché più conosci più non provi paura.

Giunto all'età grigia
molto è andato dimenticato
ma nulla scompare, si adagia
nel fondo come un bosco incantato.

Siamo esseri di sangue e pagine
e l'esistenza è somma altezza e voragine.

The Enchanted Forest

Like a dream to walk
in the Library of Babel
between wings of dusty tomes
that open like sails in the wind.

How I was always a hungry reader 

greedy I devoured words

fascinated to travel the world

'cos the more you know, the less you fear.

Now in the grey age
much has been forgotten
but nothing disappears, it settles down
in the bottom like an enchanted forest.

We are beings of blood and pages
and existence is the sum of height and chasm.

Hutan Mempersona*

Seperti berimpian mahu melangkah
di khutub khanah Babel
antara kubah dan debu bertebangan
bebas dilayah angin.

Sejak usia muda

Tamaknya aku
Memamah segala kata-kata
Kerana semakin banyak aku tahu
Makin banyak rasa gusarku.

Kini di musim usia kelabu
Banyak yang telah terlupakan
Namun ia tidak pernah hilang
Abadi seperti hutan mempersona.

 
Kita adalah lapisan lapisan darah 
Yang berada di antara
Ketinggian dan yang di jurang.
