First Year Anniversary

Exactly one year ago, in this period, the first lockdown began. And, I started this blog, believing in the saving power of writing (read the first article here).

One article a day. Every day thinking about what to write.

By diverting attention from the inner pain to the pain of the blank page in front of me.

Ironically, March 20 falls on the anniversary of the first article, and – now as then – we are once again in a lockdown.

Now I write less frequently, but this blog always remains a secret corner of the heart, like the old diaries of the past.

A secret that is then known by everyone, like those paper boats in which you write words of love and then let them go out to sea.

Thanks to this blog, some of my closest friends have decided to go back to writing or to open their own blog.

 

I don't think it can even be defined as a Photography blog anymore – that title, Soccamacha, the "Eye that Reads" in the Indonesian Sundanese dialect is an eye that reads everything it rests on, from a photograph to a book, to a flower or a tear.

Why impose limits on yourself? There are those who argue that the limits were made to be overcome.

I feel I have returned to believe in logos, in the power of the word.

Words, like images, bring people together.

As I often tell my students, it is better to photograph with a small lens so we are forced to get closer to people; the same goes for words, they need ears close to the lips.

 

One year after its birth this, I believe, is the profound meaning of the blog: to be a caress to my loneliness.

The illusion that there is always someone, beyond the screen, interested in what I feel and think.

And if, from one of my articles, paths open up within the reader, then so be it!

Many solitudes make a multitude.

 

So, happy birthday to us...

And once again thank you for waiting for a new fragment of my soul every day.
